  • contact details, including telephone number, email and postal or physical address;
  • location details, including country, district, sub-county, parish, village, farm location or map coordinates;

  • other information you voluntarily provide or that an authorised programme partner collects with appropriate notice and consent.

We do not intentionally collect more information than is reasonably necessary for the stated purpose.

3. How we collect personal data

We collect information when you:

  • register through our website, subscription portal, mobile application or USSD service;
  • subscribe to weather, AgroMet, market-information, advisory or other services;
  • communicate with us by SMS, email, telephone, WhatsApp, social media or support channels;
  • participate in an M-Omulimisa programme, survey, training or field registration;
  • register through an authorised village agent, cooperative or implementation partner; or
  • use our websites and digital services.

We do not buy, rent or scrape mailing lists. Service communications are sent to registered subscribers and users with an existing service or programme relationship.

4. Why we use personal data

We use personal data to:

  • create and manage accounts and subscriptions;
  • deliver location-specific weather, AgroMet, agronomic and market information;
  • personalise services by location, language, crop, livestock or stated preference;
  • process payments, orders, refunds and customer-support requests;
  • send service confirmations, security notices, reminders and operational updates;
  • provide agricultural training, insurance, input, marketplace, VSLA and partner-supported services;
  • measure service performance, conduct research and improve our products;
  • prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents and unauthorised access;
  • comply with law, contracts and lawful requests; and
  • send marketing information where you have consented or where otherwise permitted by law.

5. Lawful bases

We process personal data where you have given informed consent; where processing is necessary to provide a requested service or perform a contract; where we must comply with a legal obligation; or where another lawful basis applies under Ugandan law. You may withdraw consent for future processing at any time, but this does not invalidate processing already carried out lawfully.

6. Email, SMS and other communications

Subscribers may receive agricultural advisories, market information, subscription notices and other communications connected to selected services. Marketing messages are sent only where consent or another lawful basis applies. You may opt out using the unsubscribe facility provided, changing your preferences where available, or contacting us. Essential account, security, payment or service-administration messages may still be sent while you maintain an active service.

7. Sharing personal data

We may share only the information reasonably necessary with:

  • cloud hosting, email, SMS, voice and mobile-gateway providers;
  • payment processors and mobile-money providers;
  • customer-support, analytics, security and software providers;
  • authorised village agents, cooperatives and programme partners involved in delivering a selected service;
  • insurers, input suppliers, financial-service providers or marketplace participants where you request the relevant service; and
  • regulators, courts, law-enforcement bodies or other parties where required by law or necessary to protect rights and safety.

We require service providers processing personal data for us to use it only for authorised purposes and to apply appropriate confidentiality and security safeguards. We do not sell personal data.

8. International transfers

Some technology providers may process or store information outside Uganda. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we take reasonable steps to use lawful transfer mechanisms and safeguards offering protection consistent with applicable Ugandan data-protection requirements.

9. Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide services, maintain required business and financial records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements and meet legal or regulatory obligations. Retention periods depend on the type of information, the service and legal requirements. We securely delete, anonymise or restrict information when it is no longer required.

10. Security and data breaches

We use reasonable organisational and technical measures designed to protect personal data against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration or destruction. No system is completely secure. Where a qualifying personal-data breach occurs, we will investigate and notify affected individuals and the Personal Data Protection Office where required by law.

11. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request:

  • information about and access to your personal data;
  • correction of inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • deletion of data where legally permissible;
  • restriction of or objection to certain processing;
  • withdrawal of consent;
  • cessation of direct marketing; and
  • a portable copy of applicable information where available.

To exercise a right, contact our Data Protection Officer, Daniel Ninsiima, at [email protected]. We may ask for reasonable information to verify your identity. You may also lodge a complaint with Uganda’s Personal Data Protection Office at https://www.pdpo.go.ug/.

12. Children

Our services are not intended to collect personal data directly from children without appropriate authorisation. Where a programme involves a child, we obtain consent from a parent, guardian or other authorised person unless another lawful exception applies.

13. Cookies and similar technologies

Our websites may use essential cookies and similar technologies for security, sessions and core functionality. Where analytics or non-essential technologies are used, we provide notice and obtain consent where required. Browser controls may be used to manage cookies, although disabling essential cookies can affect functionality.

Our services may link to or integrate with third-party platforms. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. Review those policies before providing information directly to them.
